George D. DeLauder


George D. DeLauder established a carriage factory on Vine at Chestnut in 1872. George DeLauder built the old Opera House in 1883-84. This "Civic Center" became the scene of high school graduation, political rallies, dances, lectures, dramas and medicine shows . . . Kinsey Comedy co. played there. The Old National House is known as DeLauder Hotel.

George D. DeLauder was born in Fr. Co. MD 24 June 1849. He died 29 Oct 1930 in La Rue Ohio and is buried in La Rue Cem. He married Minerva Bowersock (sox) in 1870. She was born in Maryland around 1849. George married Sarah James as his second wife. She was born 26 September 1874 and died 5 March 1900. George then married Della Elphine Wise on 22 October 1901. Della was born 3 Oct 1874 and she died on 15 November 1974.
