The following is taken from the book "De Lauter Families in America 1982",
a Genealogy by: Pauline Grace De Lauter Fry.
Afro-American De Lauters
This book would be incomplete without reference to the Afro-American De Lauters.
It was my privilege to visit in the home of Claude De Lauter Jr. and his lovely wife, Alice. At that time we were also
blessed in meeting Claude's mother Bertha Rozelia (d/o Annie (nee, Whalen) and Arthur F. Ambush) now deceased.
It is difficult to trace Afro-American Ancestry. However, we found the U.S. Census record in which Claude's grandfather Solomon De Lauter was listed.
Herewith is a biographical sketch of Claude De Lauter, Jr.
