The following is taken from the book "De Lauter Families in America 1982",
a Genealogy by: Pauline Grace De Lauter Fry.

In searching records of Virginia, we found a Lawrence Delawder, Sr. in the 1790 census. We believe that he could have been the father of Lawrence, Isaac, Marion and Catharine.

The earliest listing of Lawrence (Laurence, Lorentz) in America is found in the church confirmation records of 1754. A Larance Delater fought in the French and Indian War. Roll of Capt. Dalashmuts Muster Roll 13 August 1757 and his earliest land patent "Quarrell Hill" is dated 17 December 1762. These also are pre-Revolution dates.




Lawrence Delawder, born about 1734, baptized on Feb 17, 1740 in Germany, died on 17 Jan 1837 in Hardy Co., West Virginia, married Barbara ___________
Children of Lawrence and Barbara:
Abraham Delawder died Hardy Co., West Virginia 1 Nov 1841 married Barbara Lichliter on 12 March 1796 Shenandoah Co., Virginia (b 9 May 1775)

Katharine Delawder born June 1786 died May 1874 married Abraham Roberts (b circa 1780, d 1837/39 Hazelton Cem Perry Co., OH)

Magdalene "Modlin" Delawder married 12 Sept 1786 Woodstock, VA to George Shireman

Susan Delawder married Shenandoah Co., VA 11 May 1796 to Jacob Kellendar (Calendar)

Mary Delawder (Note: Elijah Evans, only son of Mary, dec'd. d/o Lawrence. Estate settlement of Lawrence Delawder)

Lawrence Delawder, Jr. married Esther Halterman

Isaac Delawder built first grist mill Aid Twp Lawrence Co., OH 1812, died 1 April 1833, married Margaret _______ (born circa 1782, d between 1860-1870 OH)

Marion Delawder built first grist mill with brother Isaac in Aid Twp Lawrence Co., OH 1812




The following information was received from Don Delawder living in Sugar Land, Texas

LAWRENCE DELAWDER SR.

Rumored to have been born Shenandoah, VA Hardy Co.or born in Germany.
Son of David Delawder. David came to U.S. in 1751 on a ship called the St. Andrew
with a new wife, an infant and a child (male) approx.8 year old
David is said to have left 5 children in Germany. If these came later it is not known at this time. Lawrence Sr.'s mother is said to have died in Germany. Lawrence is said to have lived to be 105 Yrs. and married 5 times.

FACTS AS WE KNOW THEM AT THIS TIME:
Lawrence Sr. married Mary Lathliter and settled near Powellsville, Ohio
He then moved to John's Creak in Aid Twp. Lawrence Co. Ohio Sec.7
Mary died and he went back to Va. where he married Mary Sibert(Sivers)
This was June 25, 1821. Mary Sibert is listed as being a widow.
Bondsman was Jacob Hallman. This is possibly Mary's father.
He brought her back to John's Creek and lived until he lost his mare and other property.
He moved back to VA where he died.

Elizabeth Delawder married Mitchel Bowen s/o Mitchel Bowen, Sr.
Anna Delawder married George Monk
William Delawder married --------- Wallace d/o George Wallace
Polly Delawder married Ison Garrett s/o Russell Garrett
Ester Delawder married William Monk
Note: Ester and William parted and she lived at Cranes Nest
John Delawder married Mary Neal d/o Johnathan Neal.
Abraham Delawder married Barbara Lichliter Mar.12, 1796
Bondsman was Jacob Lichliter.

NOTES:
Issac and Marion are listed as being some of the first settlers to Lawrence Co. Ohio.
They started a grist mill In Aid Twp.

Abraham Delawder is said to have stayed in VA not moving to Ohio with Lawrence Sr.

If Issac was a brother to Lawrence, Jr. then Lawrence Jr.'s son, James Madison, married his first cousin, Barbara Delawder
